Lazy Brits prefer to slump. COUCH potato Britons are turning into the laziest generation ever. A shocking two-thirds admit they spend 20 hours a day either lying down or sitting.
And it’s their laptop and mobile phone that are to mainly to blame, according to researchers.
More than half of people questioned for a study believe they lead busy and active lives, but the truth is they spend most of their time off their feet.
In our heads we feel like we’ve rushed around all day, but in reality we’ve hardly moved.
Zoe Hellman of Weight Watchers, which carried out the research, said modern technology means we’re constantly switched on. From texting and emailing to browsing online, it’s mentally exhausting.
“In our heads we feel like we’ve rushed around all day, but in reality we’ve hardly moved.”
The survey also shows we are watching more TV at an average four hours and two minutes a day, up from three hours 36mins in 2006.
