Everbuilds Tile On Timber Available From Greengates Builders Merchants Accrington, Lancashire.
EVERBUILD TILE ON TIMBER is a grey ready mixed paste tile adhesive with high flexibility and water resistance specifically designed for tiling directly onto timber floors.
TILE ON TIMBER is suitable for fixing all types of ceramic tiles, including vitrified, porcelain and mosaics and is ideal for application directly onto timber panels, plywood, composite board, tongue and groove floorboards and floating plywood floors. TILE ON TIMBER is also suitable for tiling on cement based substrates and its grey colour enables TILE ON TIMBER to be used as a floor grout.
Tested to EN12004 Type D2.
- Excellent water resistance.
- Ready Mixed, no mixing required
- Flexible, copes with the natural movement of subfloors
- Can be used as a grout
Areas for Use
- Kitchen/Bathroom walls.
- Shower areas.
- Communal and power showers
- Work tops subject to water contact.
- Unsuitable for areas subject to rising or penetrating damp
- Do not use Tile on Timber to fill out or level up depressions in uneven floors, Use Everbuild Jetcem or Self levelling compound.
- Do not apply or allow this product to cure below 5°C (Surface or ambient temperatures)
- Drying times quoted may be significantly extended below 15°C
- Substrates must always be porous
- Do not walk on floors until adhesive is fully dried (24-72hrs depending on substrate & site conditions)
- When used as a grout, tiled areas must be kept free from water contact for at least 14 days.
Tiling should be carried out according to the guidelines given in BS5385. Surfaces to be tiled must be clean, dry and sound. Timber floors must be structurally sound and braced securely enough to support the likely load without the risk of excessive deflection. All timber substrates must be dry, sealed on exposed edges and primed with EVERBUILD SBR BOND diluted 1:4 with water and allowed to dry before tiling. Floorboards must be screwed to joists and free from all obvious deflection prior to tiling. Timber boarding must be exterior/marine grade or waterproof rated, 15mm minimum thickness and screwed, not nailed to sub floor at no less than 150mm centres. All boards must be level, free from all release coatings and showing no edge protrusions. An expansion gap of 0.5-1mm must be left between boards and around perimeter of room to allow for subsequent expansion. For large floors, expansion joints must be fitted in line with recommendations given in BS5385.
Cement based substrates should be primed with EVERBUILD SBR BOND as detailed above. Screeds must be a minimum of 4 weeks old and be protected by an effective damp proof course. Level uneven screeds with EVERBUILD SELF LEVEL FLOOR COMPOUND and allow to dry.
As an adhesive: Stir adhesive well before use. Substrates must be porous. Do not apply below 5`C.(surface or ambient temperatures). Apply using flooring grade board notched trowel (10mm x 10mm notch at 16mm centres) to give an even ribbed bed of adhesive on substrate. Bed the tiles directly into the surface of the adhesive and secure with a slight twist action to remove voids. It is good practice to periodically remove a tile and check that at least 75% of the tile is covered in adhesive and that the adhesive bed is no more than 3mm thick, otherwise adhesive will not achieve its full cured strength. If this is not the case, remove old and apply fresh adhesive and reposition. Do not comb out more than ca. 1m2 of adhesive at a time. Always position tiles within 10 minutes of combing adhesive onto sub floor, ie before adhesive skins over. . Clean all adhesive residues on surface of tile within 10mins. Do not walk on floors after tiling for 24 hours minimum or until adhesive has set. For cool, low porosity surfaces, this may be up to 72 hours.
As a grout: Only proceed with grouting when adhesive is dry (24-72 hours @20`C depending on tile and substrate). Grout only 1m2 at a time, cleaning area thoroughly with a damp cloth before adhesive dries. Do not walk on floor for a further 1-2 days to allow grout to thoroughly dry. Only suitable for grouting joints 10mm max wide, otherwise use EVERBUILD WIDE JOINT GROUT FLEXIPLUS.
