House Buyers Market Till Early Summer

Homes that are still on sale at this time of year often have desperate vendors.

‘For deal hunters, January and February will be a good time because sellers are battle-worn if they’ve failed to sell before Christmas,’ say estate agents.

Then there’s the general election in May. Estate agent say sales plummet 20 per cent in the three months before polling day. After the election there is often a buying surge, making it a good idea to get a property now before demand increases and prices rise.

About 4,000 of Britain’s 25,000 estate agency branches are going to use a new site, On The Market, that was launched on January 26.

Although On The Market will be cheaper for the agents, it will also be much smaller and less well known than existing portals. Some agents say this means fewer buyers will see property details, leading to decreased demand for homes and possibly lower prices as a result.

Agents say they have no intention of leaving Zoopla or Rightmove.

This year will also see decisions at last about the HS2 rail link between London and Birmingham, HS3 line linking Leeds and Manchester, these improved rail links will all help with the sale of houses all over the country including the North West.

“So if your looking for a bargain now may be the time to start looking and if you don’t want to sell to cheap you may think about taking your property off the market” says Greengates Builders Merchants, Accrington, Lancashire.
