Greengates Builders Merchants

It’s Father’s Day Tomorrow Don’t Forget

Tomorrow Sunday the 21st June is Fathers Day and the first day of summer the longest day of the year.

If you still haven’t got your Dad a present then call into Greengates Builders Merchants this morning and pick something up from us.

Instead of buying that unhealthy bottle of booze or cans of beer buy him some new tools.  something useful for a change.
We have a wide range of CK and Stanley tools and lots more.

Or why not buy him some new clothing for work. As the weather still isn’t very good why not get him some much needed waterproofs? Might seem boring but very useful.  Come along and see our extensive range of clothing and footwear for the working man.

Fathers day can be traced back to originating in pagan sun worship. Some branches of paganism see the sun as the father of the universe. Since the summer solstice occurs around the same time of year as Father's Day, some people see a link between the two.

The idea of a special day to honor fathers and celebrate fatherhood was introduced from the United States. Father's Day has been celebrated in June since 1910 in the USA.  The celebrations in the United Kingdom are thought to have been inspired by the American custom of Father's Day.

Father's Day is held on the third Sunday of June in the United Kingdom.

Happy Fathers Day to you all from Greengates Builders Merchants Accrington, Lancashire.
