Egg mayo is voted Britain’s most-loved sandwich.
Humble egg mayonnaise has been named as the nation’s favourite sandwich filling.
Egg mayo topped a poll to find the 10 most popular sandwiches, winning a quarter of the vote.
Another classic, the cheese sandwich, took second place with 21 per cent. Ham was third with 17 per cent and chicken fourth on 13 per cent.
There was a tie in fifth place between tuna and bacon lettuce and tomato. Both won seven per cent of the vote.
Prawn mayo, jam, crisps and peanut butter completed the top 10 fillings in the poll by PromotionalCodes.org.uk.
The pole said that flavours like cheese are still popular but new ones are constantly being invented.
When the sandwich was created, who would of thought peanut butter and jelly (jam to us) would be a good filling although it has always been very popular in America.
