The autumnal equinox took place on Saturday the 23rd of September, signalling the official beginning of autumn here in the northern hemisphere. With temperatures already beginning to fall, now is the time to make sure that your home is properly insulated to prepare it for the coming winter. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors carried out an in-depth study into this phenomenon, concluding that well-insulated properties can sell for 5% or more than those that are not.
• Lower Impact on the Environment. The reduction in how much energy is required to heat your home lessens environmental impact, lowering the amount of carbon emissions and other pollutants produced. Data from the UK government suggests that, if all homes were properly insulated, the total carbon emissions of the UK could be reduced by a massive 10%.     
• Improved Indoor Ambience. Indoor temperature has a significant effect on mood and insulation helps to maintain it at a comfortable level. That insulation helps to keep a home warm in winter is well known; what is less obvious is that it acts in exactly the reverse manner during summer, helping to keep the home cool. Insulation also helps to improve the ambience of a property by reducing the level of noise pollution from outside.
